Tamil newspaper maker & layout software
Tamil newspaper maker with a practical print-proof checklist
For a Tamil local paper, the difficult part is often fitting a headline without making the letters cramped. XLR8 Print supports Tamil newspaper pages. Bring approved stories and captions, make a representative page, and judge the text at its intended printed size before applying the layout to an entire edition.

Start with a page from your own newsroom
Use a town report, a two-line headline and a photo caption as the first proof. A caption that looks fine while zoomed in may be too small when printed.
Prepare the approved story, headline, byline, caption, image credit and edition date together. In XLR8, assemble the page, review the generated layout and make corrections before exporting. Newspaper generation assists production; an editor still approves facts, spelling and what belongs in the edition.
Three checks before you approve the page
Check similar-looking letters in names
Ask a Tamil editor to verify names and words involving ர/ற, ல/ள/ழ and ந/ண/ன against the approved copy. Layout software cannot decide which spelling a person or place uses.
Read pulli and vowel signs at print size
Inspect body text and small captions for missing or crowded marks. If the page feels dense, reconsider column width and line spacing before making all the text smaller.
Proof numerals and bilingual adverts
Review amounts, dates and phone numbers separately from the story. Where an advert mixes Tamil and English, compare the exported PDF with the advertiser’s approved artwork and copy.
Build the paper. Build its reach. Build a stronger publishing business.
A publication does not stop at the printing press. XLR8 Print brings newspaper production, a news website service, and a billing system together—so the edition, its audience, and the business behind it can move forward as one.
The edition
Shape approved stories, photographs, and advertisements into editable pages, then review the edition before it goes to press.
The audience
Give the publication a credible digital home through our news website service, and stay present beyond the morning paper.
The business
Keep billing organised with a system built for the commercial work behind a newspaper, backed by the same team that supports your publication.
Read the PDF, not just the editor
Check names, numerals, photographs, adverts and page size again in the exported PDF. Send one representative page to your printer before producing a complete edition. Use the printer’s requested export settings; increasing a DPI number will not restore detail missing from a source image.
