Start with a page from your own newsroom
Start with a local report containing a long organisation name and a photo caption. The test should include the smaller text sizes used in notices, not only a large headline.
Prepare the approved story, headline, byline, caption, image credit and edition date together. In XLR8, assemble the page, review the generated layout and make corrections before exporting. Newspaper generation assists production; an editor still approves facts, spelling and what belongs in the edition.
Three checks before you approve the page
Read conjuncts in the chosen font
Use a paragraph containing words such as শিক্ষা and সংবাদ. Ask the editor to review joined letters and vowel signs at the final size; substituting a different font can change both appearance and line fit.
Give headlines enough vertical space
Check marks above and below the line in multi-line headings. A headline should not touch the rule, photograph or line below it. Fix the frame spacing rather than removing meaningful words solely to fit.
Keep dates and numbers consistent
Agree on the numeral style for dates, prices and page numbers before proofing. Check bilingual adverts and phone numbers against approved copy, and make sure a reused page has the correct edition details.

Read the PDF, not just the editor
Check names, numerals, photographs, adverts and page size again in the exported PDF. Send one representative page to your printer before producing a complete edition. Use the printer’s requested export settings; increasing a DPI number will not restore detail missing from a source image.
